Background
Jenny, an owner at Balanced LLC, has been a clinical social worker in the mental health field since 1995. She completed her MSW work at St. Louis University and specialized in mental health for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (via ASL). Since then, Jennifer has gained expertise in early childhood intervention, autism, parenting skills, advocacy, foster care, grief and loss, personality disorders, trauma, marital issues, depression and anxiety disorders. She especially enjoys marital work but she has experience in working with individuals and families of all ages.
Approach to Therapy
Jenny has been in private practice for 15 years, but has been in practice for 28 years. She has provided crisis services, addiction and recovery services, grief and loss support, and trauma processing in both individual and family therapy settings. She has a very "roots" based approach and uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR and NET as primary, evidence-based treatment modalities. There are only approximately 550 Certified NET practioners in the US and Jenny is one of them!
Jenny has deepened and developed her practice and understanding of healing according to the mind/body connection and holistic care. She aligns with people to harness the body's innate healing power and is not satisfied with just managing symptoms. She developed an interest in the use of essential oils, and homeopathy as supplements to treatment. She highly values on-going learning and has completed the Clinical Autism Specialist (CAS) Certification, NET Certification and is learning Spanish. Jenny sees the best in others, loves humor, is accepting of all people and has a realist approach. Due to her views of people as multifaceted beings, affirming spiritual/faith-based services are also available but not required. Jenny always strives to be inclusive and accepting of all people.
